Motorists advised of overnight road closures on A9 Northbound in Perth

SCOTTISH Water is advising motorists of a series of overnight road closures on the A9 in Perth next week.

The closure will affect northbound traffic travelling towards the Inveralmond roundabout, and is in place to allow Scottish Water to safely remove trees ahead of a planned sewer upgrade to reinforce the area’s network and facilitate future growth in the city.

Work will take place for three consecutive nights beginning Monday 25 March, with the road closed to all northbound traffic between 9pm - 6am.

The northbound carriageway will be closed from the off-ramp at the A85 Crieff / Perth and the on-ramp from the A85/B9993 to the Inveralmond Roundabout.

A signed diversion will be in place via the B9993 and Ruthvenfield Road, through Inveralmond Industrial Estate. Road users should allow extra time for their journey and follow all signage.

Scottish Water’s Senior Project Manager, David Lavery, said: “We are investing in a number of large-scale infrastructure projects across the Fair City, which this work is part of.

“We need to safely remove trees located near the verge at this location to allow for the future installation of new sewer pipeline close to the Inveralmond Roundabout.

“As well as helping to transfer the flows from the city centre’s ‘super-sewer’, the work will also reinforce the area’s sewer network and facilitate future development in the city.

“Tree clearance is being carried out overnight to avoid peak traffic periods, however we appreciate the work may cause disruption and thank motorists for their patience.”

To minimise any impact on local wildlife, an ecologist is scheduled to attend site to carry out surveys ahead of the work commencing.

A further closure will be required for two nights in early April as Scottish Water continues to prepare the site ahead of the sewer construction work. This will communicated once dates are confirmed.
