Scottish Water to Close Greig Street for Urgent Sewer Repairs in Inverness

Road Closure at Greig Street
Road closed from 19th August while essential sewer repairs are carried out
Work to complete essential sewer repairs in Inverness city centre requires the closure of Greig Street Scottish Water has advised.
An initial project to repair sewers in Duncraig Street, King Street and Greig Street is currently on-going and is expected to last until September 2024. However, a further issue with a section of sewer on Greig Street has now been identified and additional repair work will need to be completed as soon as possible.
Greig Street will be closed to all traffic during the construction period from 19th August until 30th August. Work on the sewer network at the junction of King Street and Greig Street will commence on Greig Street on Monday, 19th August, and will last 2 weeks.
King Street will have restricted access until all work is complete and a one-way traffic system will continue to be in operation on Duncraig Street.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “We recognise that, while essential, these works will cause some significant disruption for residents in the area, as well as for families with children attending St Joseph’s Primary, for which we would like to apologise.
“We are contacting residents and businesses directly to advise them of the arrangements we’ve agreed with Highland Council regarding parking and bin collections while the project is being carried out. Due to the nature of the work, there will be a degree of construction noise from heavy machinery which we will seek to minimise as far as possible.
“We would like to thank residents and road users in the area in advance for their patience while we complete this work, which will ensure the sewer system can continue to serve residents effectively and protect the environment for years to come.”
The work is being completed on Scottish Water’s behalf by contractor MacAulay Askernish
