Banks of the Tay
Stanley Waste Water Treatment Works is located on the banks of the River Tay close to the historic visitor attraction of Stanley Mills
Scottish Water is set to invest over £7.5million upgrading the waste water treatment works serving the village of Stanley in Perthshire.
The two-year project will ensure the site is able to meet the needs of the community for many years to come and help protect the environment.
To give customers the opportunity to find out more, ask questions, and provide feedback ahead of a planning application, a drop in information event has been arranged.
Members of the project team will be available at Stanley Village Hall on Tuesday 26 August 2025 between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.

New upgraded equipment will be installed

Scottish Water Project Manager Colin Maybury said: “We very much want to work with the community to deliver this significant and much needed investment.
“Their local knowledge will be invaluable to us to plan the fine details, and I would encourage people to come along, find out more about the project and give us any feedback.”
Scottish Water is spending record amounts of customers’ money – over a billion pounds in the last financial year – delivering its capital investment programme.
The Stanley Waste Water Treatment Works project is expected to begin in February 2026 and take approximately two years to complete.
The work is being carried out on Scottish Water’s behalf by alliance partner ESD, a joint venture between MWHT and Galliford Try.
