Water Development Centre

Our Water Development Centre is Scotland’s first full-scale test facility dedicated to supporting research and innovation in the water sector. 

Transformed from a water treatment works, the centre benefits from varied raw water quality that is typical to many rural areas.  

As the facility is no longer on the distribution network, users have an opportunity to test, develop and demonstrate new processes and equipment under live conditions without risk to drinking water quality or public health.
