Road Traffic Management

Road users in Girvan are being advised of some road traffic management ahead of essential bridge refurbishment works on the A77 Ballantrae Bridge being carried out by Amey.

From Monday 19th August, we begin work to divert a water main contained within the structure of Ballantrae Bridge.

These essential works are expected to take around four weeks for completion (until around Friday 13th September) and will be carried out under phased lane closures of the A77, with three-way temporary traffic lights in operation.

During the works, customers may experience a change in water pressure and/or discoloured water. If this happens we advise customers to turn on the cold water tap in their kitchen and let the water flow slowly until it runs clear.

The water main will then be reinstated to its original location on completion of the first phase of the bridge refurbishment works being undertaken by Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland.

Refurbishment works on the A77 Ballantrae Bridge are due to begin on Monday 16th September 2024 and are expected to take until around Tuesday 11th March 2025.
