Work to repair the local sewer network began on Monday 9 January and was completed by the end of May.
What We Did
Works began on Monday 9 January and lasted until the end of May. It was originally anticipated that the repairs to the collapsed sewer would take around six weeks for completion, however, investigations revealed extensive works were required.
Our main contractors George Leslie Ltd came across several challenges as these works unfolded in High Street.
There were issues which were completely unforeseen and could not have been established until we began digging. Uncharted services, remnants of old worksites that predate modern records and tricky ground conditions all added to complications.
High Street was closed to traffic between its junctions with Duke Street and Rottenrow, with a diversion will be in place for road users along Cathedral Square and John Knox Street.
Pedestrian access to High Street was maintained at all times and businesses were open as usual.
All traffic management arrangements were agreed with Glasgow City Council.
We thank all road users, the local community and businesses for their patience and understanding while these essential works were under way. We worked with local residents and business owners to help minimise any disruption for the duration of these works.
