What is Trade Effluent?

Trade effluent covers any liquid produced in the operation of any trade or industrial process that is discharged to the waste water system. 

It includes water used in production, washing, or cooling facilities, and covers both large and small premises, including businesses, such as car washes and launderettes.  

Discharges from hotels, caravan sites or restaurants are not considered trade effluent.
