Our engineers usually work in our Capital Investment or Strategic Customer Service Planning teams.
These teams, together with other areas of the business and our supply chain, ensure that we deliver affordable, resilient and reliable water and waste water services to our customers and for Scotland.
You could be working on projects aligned to our Capital Programme, building new or upgrading current assets and infrastructure or planning how we maintain our assets to manage existing and future demands.
Typical engineering roles we recruit for are: Project Manager; Intervention Manager; Strategic Planner; Asset Planner.
Typically they are involved in testing water and waste water samples and providing analysis in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements.
They also get involved in working out what the best processes are for treating water to ensure that our water quality remains high and in line with our customer’s expectations.
Typical science roles we recruit for are: Scientist; Process Scientist
Our Customer Service Delivery team is at the heart of our business.

In these roles you could be:

Operating and maintaining our treatment works

Providing an emergency response to both customers and assets 24/7 when needed

Resolving the cause of customers’ problems – which can be burst or leaking pipes, blocked drains, water quality issues, pressure adjustment and odours

Managing new connections needed for new houses or businesses to our services
Typical field based roles we recruit for are: Water or Waste Water Treatment Operator; Field Service Adviser; Network Service Operator; Network Maintenance Operator

- Working with communities across Scotland; listening to our customers and working closely with them to provide the best service possible
- Looking after our branding; making sure we are always presenting ourselves consistently and to the highest standards
The Corporate Affairs team also manage our website and social media presence, helping to keep our customers informed and educated.
At the heart of Finance are three core foundations which underpin all our activities. Typically, you will be involved in:
- Ensuring the business is provided with Quality Information to support the decision-making processes and strategic thinking
- Providing the right Control mechanisms to minimise loss and manage risk but avoiding an over-bureaucratic culture
- Providing Added Value Services in all our activities
Whether a customer is calling the Contact Centre to talk to us, our scientists are testing water samples, or our people are sending e-mails, the team is there digitally enabling them.
You will be providing Scottish Water with safe technologies that will deliver improved service performance and provide innovative solutions that align with the needs of the business now and in the future.
Working in this team you will be involved in:
- Leading and developing strategies to exploit new emerging technologies
- Exploring and introducing new tools using data analytics to provide insights that drive organisational improvements
- Providing efficient, reliable project delivery services on budget while embracing a variety of methodologies that deliver projects at the quality and pace demanded by you
