project statys delivery

Project Overview

We are upgrading the waste water infrastructure to support the growth of sustainable new housing in the Glenmavis area of Airdrie. The project will also reduce the risk of sewer flooding by installing nearly 500 metres of new pipework.

What We Are Doing

We are installing nearly 500 metres of new sewer in three phases over approximately nine months.

Phase 1: Raebog Road (in grass verge) between Dunvegan and Windsor Drive

Phase 2: Coatbridge Road, Glenmavis Road and the field upstream of Woodhead Crescent

Phase 3: Glenmavis Road (including the site compound for the whole project)

The new sewer will be installed using ‘rolling’ traffic management along Glenmavis Road and onto Coatbridge Road.

Why We Are Doing It

The project will deliver benefits for existing customers by reducing the risk of sewer flooding and will also support sustainable new housing in the local area.

Scottish Water is committed to supporting sustainable growth and delivering much-needed improvements for communities and the environment to meet the challenges of climate change, ageing assets and increasing demand.

Update September 2024

The first phase of the project has seen the installation of a storage pipe in the grass verge between Dunvegan and Windsor Drive.

To connect this to the existing sewer it will be necessary to close the B803 Raebog Road between Appin Way and Windsor Drive from Friday 27 September 2024 to Monday 30 September 2024.

A diversion will be set up along Stirling Road, Dykehead Road and Glenmavis Road.

We have timed the closure to coincide with the September weekend holiday when local schools will be shut. We had hoped to carry out the work under temporary traffic lights but unfortunately the location of the existing sewer means a full closure is required.

We would like to thank everyone affected for their patuience and understanding.

From Tuesday 1 October, work will begin to install a new upgraded sewer along Glenmavis Road for approximately six months.

This will be carried out under temporary lights, beginning opposite Woodhead Crescent, and progressing along the carriageway towards the roundabout and then uphill onto Coatbridge Road.
