A giant crane will remove the temporary equipment used while the upgrade work was carried out
Scottish Water is close to completing a million pounds project to upgrade a Clackmannanshire waste water treatment works.
The Devon Way site in Dollar plays a crucial role in treating waste water, handling up to 1500 cubic metres per day. However, after around 30 years, the equipment was nearing the end of its serviceable life and needed to be upgraded.
The first phase required a giant 300-tonne crane to be brought to the site to install temporary treatment machinery to be used while the investment work was carried out.
Now, ten months on, the crane and other heavy machinery is needed to demobilise the site.

Special track will be laid to protect the road surface

Devon Way will be closed between the A91 west of Dollar and Walton Crescent from Wednesday 13 August to Monday 18 August 2025.
Scottish Water’s Project manager Robin Johnson said: “With access to the site along a single track road we will again need to lay down special trackway mats.
“We will also need to install temporary traffic lights on the A91 on the western approach to Dollar to be used when the crane and heavy machinery are arriving and leaving the site.
“Pedestrian access along Devon Way will also be controlled by banksmen at either end to make sure everyone is kept safe.
“We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding”
Scottish Water is investing record amounts – more than £2billion over the past 10 years - to address the challenges of ageing assets, increasing demand and climate change.
The Dollar Waste Water Treatment Works project is being delivered by WGM Engineering.
