Esk Waste Water Pumping Station Musselburgh
We are carrying out a full refurbishment of Esk Waste Water Pumping Station, to help reduce the risk of sewer flooding and protect the local environment.
A temporary pumping arrangement is in place to keep the station operational. Our teams are continuing with investigation, design and implementation of the construction programme.
This work is estimated to be completed by December 2025.
Esk Pumping Station
We are currently carrying out essential maintenance on our pumping station in Musselburgh
What we are doing - Update January 2025
- We have extended our working area to accommodate deep excavations onto the sewer entering the Pumping Station. The perimeter of the temporary footpath has been resurfaced and amended in consideration of the site extension.
- A new manhole chamber will be created to improve access and operational control of the sewer network.
- Outstanding work includes structural surveys of the building, general maintenance of trees to prevent damage to building, ecological surveys in order to progress roof repairs, installation of non-return valves to prevent sea water flooding into the station, and replacement of foul pumps and ancillary equipment/pipework.
- During this time, your water supply and drainage services from your kitchen and bathroom should not be affected by our work.
You may notice some noise associated with our activities/equipment and, vehicles accessing the station. We will do our best to minimise any disruption where possible.
