Project Overview

We’ve completed a £2.5 million investment to replace 11km of water pipes on the Island of Benbecula - a vital step in securing a reliable and high-quality water supply for the local community for years to come.

Work began in January 2024 and has now been successfully delivered, on time and to a high standard.

The project was carried out by our alliance partner Caledonia Water Alliance in collaboration with local contractor MacInnes Bros.

We thank our customers for their patience and understanding while we carried out this essential upgrade work.

Community Engagement

While working in the area, we were keen to work and engage with the community. Our site team consisted entirely of local workers from South and North Uist. This community-focused approach ensures local expertise is central to the project while supporting the island's economy.

We also attended Balivanich Primary School to deliver a presentation about the water cycle to the pupils.
