Lane closure

A single lane will be closed to traffic to allow operatives to carry site investigation work out safely

We are carrying out essential planned work in Glasgow city centre to tackle internal sewer flooding affecting businesses on Argyle Street.

Work to repair a damaged sewer is due to begin in the new year.

However, in order to determine the most efficient way to carry these repairs out, we first require to conduct site investigation work by digging trial holes in the impacted area. This will begin on Monday 8 December for approximately five days.

To allow our operatives to carry these investigations out safely, a single lane will be closed to traffic eastbound on Argyle Street between West Campbell Street and Wellington Street for the duration. There will also be a minor footpath closure.

We have met with local businesses to provide updates and are working in co-operation with them to minimise interference with their daily operations. Local businesses remain open, but we would advise drivers to follow all signs and allow extra time for their journeys.

The work will be carried out by Scottish Water’s delivery partner George Leslie.

We thank everyone impacted for their patience and understanding.
