project statys delivery

Project Overview

Scottish Water is progressing with its £38 million investment between Peterhead and Ellon, upgrading almost 23km of trunk water main.

This work will strengthen the resilience of the water network, helping ensure customers enjoy fresh, clear drinking water for years to come while reducing the risk of burst pipes.

Caledonia Water Alliance and AG Wilson are delivering this major investment on behalf of Scottish Water.

Latest Update: September 2025

We are currently in phase two of the project, which began in September 2024 and is expected to run for around two years, during which 18km of pipe will be replaced.

Work has advanced significantly, with 15km already completed as a result of favourable weather conditions.

Road Closure - Castle Road, Ellon

The next section of work will involve installing a new water main on Castle Road, Ellon, requiring a partial road closure for safety.

From Monday, 8 September 2025, a section of Castle Road will be closed in two phases between Waterton Park and Castle Street for approximately three months.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place at the junction of Broomiesburn Road until work has been completed at this location.

There will be no vehicular access through the road closure, however; a diversion route will be in place and we urge motorists to follow all directional signage.

Local access to Broomiesburn Road, Waterton Park, Waterton, and Waterton Meadows will be maintained throughout the work.

We have dedicated site teams who will liaise with residents regarding property access during each phase.
